Do you know your lashes?

No love story has ever started with locking ears or elbows across a crowded room. It is always the eyes. In addition to being windows to the soul, eyes also tell much about our age. The thin skin around the eye is more susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles, commonly referred to as “crow’s feet.” Most women incorporate an eye cream into their daily routine by their 30s, but we can do more for youthful looking eyes.

Have you considered your eye lashes? Of course you have. If your make up drawer looks like mine, you have tried mascara after mascara, searching for the secret to longer lashes that are lifted and separated. Women are going to great lengths (pun intended) to give themselves better-looking lashes. Maybe you have even spent time and money investing in eyelash extensions? They look gorgeous but need frequent maintenance and can lead to damage over time.

It is true that we are all born with a set number of hair follicles on our lashes- so sadly you can’t increase the number of lashes you have. Most people have about 100 on the top lid and 50 or so on the bottom. Lashes grow, break, and fall out over time. The typical lash life span is about 6-12 months. And yes, they do thin as we age. But it is what you do with them that counts!

By treating your lashes right they can look longer and fuller.  Just as you condition the hair on your head, you can also provide nourishment and protection to the lashes around your eyes. Important ingredients to look for include Biotin and Keratin to improve the appearance of your lashes and protect them from future damage. It is also helpful to avoid rubbing your eyes throughout the day.

  1. Castor oil is also good for our eyelashes, as it helps our lashes grow for more thicker and longer lashes. The benefits of Castor oil is endless. It is also good for the skin. 🙂
